Do you think jose will play without wingers for the rest of the season? Having two big lads up top would surely love having wide players floating crosses in! However I do like the 433 set up and potts and thiam are proving alot of us wrong..

I`d love to see Adam and Izzy on the bench as an option. I need huge convincing that Mahoney is likely to be as effective as either of them.

I can’t see both featuring on our bench as JM goes with a keeper, two defenders and a striker so that only leaves three available slots. Playing with three central midfielders I can’t imagine that he would use two of the remaining spots for wingers but who knows. I actually think given the formation/system that Hedges would offer more as a replacement for Thiam than Hammill, they’re similar sort of players.

There’s no reason why Isgrove or Hammill can’t play the Thiam position in my opinion.

They’d probably enjoy it more in fact.

The Mcburnie role is a bit different because he drops in the number 9 and 10 slot throughout the game. More of a free role.

Mamadou is mainly pinned to the right though with Potts and Yiadom supporting so he can cross or cut inside. Isgrove would be very suited and certainly a good option second half.

I think Adam's days are numbered at the club.
Will sign for a L1 side next season, but even if we do go down I can't see him getting a contract.
The wide players in the favoured new system are the full backs, who need to be able to run like f@@k.
Think Isgrove & Hedges could get game time though, in a similar role to Thiam.
I think Thiam will be favoured if he keeps working, as he has more explosive power, as opposed to flat speed pace & the same is true of Potts
All early speculation, as we've only seen 3 matches, but after the first half debacle vs Burton I think Morais has gone for his favourite type of system & the players that best fit it.

Mahoney has already had game time in this system & I feel sure that Izzy, Hedges & Hammel will have a part to play before the curtain comes down , especially with Hammels experience I feel he will be involved

Set off to post something about Hammel , had a senior moment & hit the post button by mistake, then did not know what to do to sort it , thought cobblers to it . Remember , you will get old one day !

It’s never really worked for us anyway, crosses into the box are bread and butter for championship defenders, balls on the floor in behind from the middle of the park terrify them.

Strange, I am sure we scored on Tuesday night from a cross into the box? Maybe even on Saturday too?! Maybe even on the previous Tuesday too?

Well to be honest , we are not exactly Barcelona ourselves are we , we are struggling to stay up this season & hopefully we do, but its worth remembering we are where we are for a reason

I can't remember the last time we played this system. Whenever we've played 4-3-3 we've played with wide forwards which relies on the most advanced central midfielder supporting the main striker, which never happened, leaving him isolated.

A 4-3-3 with narrow forwards means we're much more effective from the long ball, with McBurnie and Thiam already supporting Moore. Most of the width comes from the full backs, and we seem to have a good selection of attacking full backs. With Gardner and Williams ineffective going forwards, a narrow 4-3-3 takes the pressure off them supporting the attack, with their role more focussed on covering the full backs and getting the ball to the front 3. Potts is a bit of an enigma who I feel is there to put himself about and cause trouble more than anything, in addition to being a key asset at attacking and defending set pieces.

I still think there's a role for Hammill and Isgrove. With McBurnie and Moore in the box we're going to be much more effective from crosses, and Hammill in particular usually swings a good ball in. However, neither Hammill or Isgrove have got the presence/power of McBurnie and Thiam to rough it with opposition defenders in the channels.

Yeah because we’re *****. We’ve not managed recruitment correctly in the last three season.

Well to be fair , we got promoted two seasons ago & survived comfortably last season ,so recruitment was fine those two seasons , its contracts & sales which have caused us the problems but fingers crossed we scrape home & start to solve previous problems

Same thing we didn’t get the contracts right when we recruited players, letting 75% of the squad be out of contact on the same day is ridiculous.
