According to the administrator, the appeal is being heard on the 31st July. So quite a few teams stuck in limbo until then if that is the case. Also said they have a 2 year transfer embargo and can only register 20 players
EFL are useless. They should have zero right to appeal as they know the rules which are clear. It's unfair if a team thinks tonight they have stayed up and a few weeks time they find out they are down. They will get left behind squad strengthening because they won't know their budget until it's over.
Just long enough after the end of the season to sweep a u-turn under the radar and near enough to the release of fixtures for the start of next for others to not have time to do anything about it. I thought that the rules were that all appeals had to be done and dusted within 21 days? Wigan appealed before 11 July as far as I am aware. All stinks to high heaven. Fwiw my view is that Wigan's ought to come under the category of 'frivolous appeal' and their points deduction increased. I might be a tad biased though!
So, the transfer window could open and a club not know what league they will be in through no fault of their own. I know Conway has threatened legal action, but I hope Charlton and Luton are thinking the same if they end up making way for any successful appeal from Wigan.
I think it's fair to assume that Wigan will lose 12 points. Derby and Wednesday are the more contentious ones.
Yeah there’s no chance of Wigan getting away with this and the EFL want them punished, it’s a clear cut offence. Derby and Weds are so much more complex so I’ll be assuming they’re both safe. If we finish 3rd bottom tonight we can count ourselves as safe (if Wigan are within 12 points).
