Leam Richardson: Wigan Athletic sack manager after poor run of form https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63583133
Surely not in a million years he'd leave to go there, too much pressure for a start. ANOTHER deluded football club!!!!
Exceptionally harsh decision to sack him. He took over when administrators were selling anything that moved, and managed to keep them up. Then got promotion the season after. Sadly, I think the owners are showing unrealistic expectations, and will probably lead to a spending spree that will end in tears if/when they don't go up within three years.
I think they’ve thrown a lot of money at it already. The striker they got from Sunderland (when both were in league one) turned down a new deal with the Mackems as Wigan were offering more. I couldn’t tell you whether it’s a good or bad decision but a couple of Wigan fans I know say it’s more the lack of ambition on the pitch that’s been the problem. Very negative tactics in constantly setting up for a point.
