Just been out for a curry in that Warsaw. The Madras, my dish of choice back home, is the hottest thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. **** me, I’ll be shitting through the eye of a needle tomorrow.
Brick Lane was absolutely awesome when I went there. Especially the metal cages which sold beer. Went somewhere in Tooting with @Jimmy viz many moons ago which was also very good.
I’d say some of the best Indian food outside of India can be found in London if you avoid the Bangladeshi places and know where to look particularly good South Indian food in Tootings some great stuff round Brick Lane. Fantastic places in Southall
Bengal Spice 9 Dunford Road, Holmfirth. Check out its reviews on Trip Advisor. We always book a table along with our son and daughter in law who live in Holmfirth. There's a varied choice of Indian and Bangladesh food. Never had a bad meal there. Would recommend it to anyone anytime, but you need to book as it's very popular. Park in large Car Park in town and walk over the road to the restaurant as there is only limited off road parking on Dunford Road itself.
When I moved to Singapore , Southern Indian food was the main type due to the Tamil immigration/forced labour by East India Company in 1800s I think , took some getting used to , but I am now well into Indian vegetarian food
I usually order vegetarian stuff when having Indian. Much less heavy. Though I still find it difficult to turn down a saag gosht.
It's a mine field when it comes to Asian food. For us those like a authentic meal, other Brits are our worst enemy because they'll eat anything, and most places cater for them. I often see Facebook pics of people eating out in the local eateries. Chicken korma and chips, chicken tikka masala and chips and massive naan breads hung up in middle of table like an elephants lug oil. Most of the restaurants that people rate around us are just serving up takeaway standard food and charging a bit extra for the attentive waiters. We don't have an Asian community in our area, and that's possibly part of why the food isn't good like it is in the cities.
