It must be the worst place in the entire stadium from which to view the match. Surely it would be better for the manager to sit in the stand with a radio link to an assistant in the dugout to bark out the orders.

You cant hear whats going off or influence anything on the pitch with your presence from up in the stand.

Their eyes are trained to watch a game from the dugout.

What they could do with tech these days you would think the bench would have the live feed from ifollow/sky on a tablet for them to get a different view if they need it. FA laws probably don't allow it though.

The West Stand is a good view point .
High enough to see how the play pans out but not too far away from the action .

DF used to have his assistant sat in the West Upper with an iPad relaying additional information to those on the bench. I do take the point that there are things that simply cannot be seen from ground level that can be assessed and reported on from a slightly elevated position. I’d be surprised if PH doesn’t have someone doing a similar job to DF’s assistant at present as it’s a no lose situation.

Not only that we still sit in the dugout on canteen chairs. The players in the back can't see and when the subs come on they must have numb arses. Proper clubs have recaro tiered seating full of advertising. Something that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Dave Bassett always sat in the West Stand until the last 10 minutes of the match.
