If we had kept the squad from last season. Who out of the signings this season would have added to the team and improved it. I am struggling to think of one.

I think majority of us would have said Cosgrove. Just hasn't worked out yet, but I dont even think he's had a full 3 games worth of minutes played.

Probably Roberts is the other, but nobody else off the top of my head right now.

None in defence, none in midfield. Our "old guard" (Styles, Phillips, Kane) in midfield have actually flopped. Probably Cosgrove, at a push. Although Norwood was a brilliant leader from the front

It’s the very nature of our system though. We sell our best players and replace them with young players of prospect to develop them ready for sale in a few years hence.

The problem is that it doesn't work when you sell and then replace. You have to bring the next one in while the other is there so they develop alongside for a year

We couldn't keep em and we didn't. It will be the same next summer. The team we have this time next year will be totally different to this one. So if you don't like this one, just wait a year.
Football, especially at L1 is a very transient sport.

I think this is daft speculation. The fact is Collins can't get the best out of the players. We could play Shepherd instead of Mccart. Connell, Kane and Styles/ Phillips in midfield and Cosgrove and Cole up front. We'd still play sideways and backwards, contriving to lose or draw.

Liam Roberts. Better than both keepers from last season IMO.

Would be interested to kno how many teams who were in this league with us last year lost so many 1st team players and the head coach (ye accepted that some were unsigned loans) particularly Portsmouth and Oxford who are doing well. also why we have to accept wholesale selling while many teams at our level don't appear to have to do this. it may be Portsmouth and Oxford are massively in debt, genuinely don't kno..

Roberts would have been great competition for Collins / Isted. Sam Cosgrove also when he gets fit. There’s also a lot more to come from Jamie McCart.

Styles wouldn't have got in last season's midfield under Duff that's for sure. The keeper Roberts at a push apart from that no one improves last season's squad.

Yep, we are at very best treading water if not in a very slow downward spiral

Agree. I'd have loved to have got Isted though. That's no slight on Killip who I think has performed admirably.

McCart isn’t good enough. That’s why he’s not playing for Rotherham.

I think he would and would have thrived. He'd have had none of the baggage in his head. Him and Connell would have been 1st and 2nd on the team sheet for me in midfield.

What baggage in his head? Not for me mate all opinions mate but he can't influence a game like Phillips did last season or at least we haven't seen it. Maybe under different management/stytem he would thrive like other probably would but I don't know.

Agreed. Think we're missing his experience big time, which was the main reason I wanted to keep Norwood.

I don't think experience is the problem this year or maybe the head coaches lack of experience
