At last, it appears that Ben Whiteman has told Doncaster that he wants to play in the Championship " sooner rather than later." I wonder if we will go back in January and submit another bid, that they are prepared to accept.? https://www.derbycounty.news/news/r...ampionship-football-after-failed-summer-bids/
Was impressed by him last night, but as others have said, we’ve no room for him atm. Though the news will be welcome to Dane to get a signature out of Alex
A new contract for Mowatt and Matty James' loan extended to the end of the season and we won't need him. If neither of these happen, he could be a good signing for us.
Would’ve thought that Kane was signed as an alternative option to Whiteman. Focus should be on finding a way to keep James for the season and getting a new contract for Mowatt. Priorities for signings would be up front and left sided defender.
Could happen. Our midfield is fantastic now, but if we can't extend James's loan for whatever reason, and/or Mowatt doesn't sign an extension, Whiteman would be the one to go for. Especially as he's played with Kane before, successfully too.
I suspect Mowatt and James to be gone in January so it's good we are looking ahead if we are still interested in Whiteman. We have been trying to sign up Mowatt now for ages and many reasons have come out of the club as to why it hasn't happened as between both parties Covid, concentrating on staying up and changing head coach have all got a mention. James will be off because if we keep him fit as we did in his first stint, a bigger club will pay a bigger portion to Leicester of his huge wages.
I agree. I think Mowatt is holding out for his last big move. That's why he only signed 1 year contract extension with option on it. I'd have thought he'd have committed longer than he did last time. I was actually disappointed at the time.
I thinks it's quite possible that we could have another Hourihane situation though. He probably won't sign a new deal now. His form has improved and hopefully the club will be in a decent position come January and be able to sell him without jeopardising our Championship status. All daft speculation though. I'm just enjoying watching him hitting top form whilst he's here.
I would imagine Mowatts next move will not be his last big move, he is still a young bloke & if his fitness is kind, then he has many years still left in the game . I also do not think he is any kind of contract rebel , he makes no public noise & gets on with his job in a professional manner & is a credit to the club , hopefully a deal to keep him can be sorted & like Woodrow, who many had him as a certainty for leaving , surprised us all with extending & hopefully Mowatt will follow suit .
