John Sheridan’s current job at Chesterfield is his tenth full time managerial appointment. Not certain that he was sacked at everyone of the previous nine but guessing he probably was

Can you imagine getting sacked 8 times? Surely you get to a point where you look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself "I'm obviously not very good at this, I'll start applying for office jobs".

Warnock managed 17 teams. Don't know how many sacked him . Cardiff probably giving him his longest stint in the premier. 8 promotions under his belt.

You have to wonder why some chairmen still keep giving them jobs. **** managers will always take another golden goodbye if they keep being given the opportunity.

I don't doubt for one minute that there are some crap managers out there but to rate their competency based on how many times they have been sacked in this current day and age of trigger happy owners is a bit short-sighted.

Some owners would sack Siewert at Town at the end of this season, for example, despite them being almost down before he arrived. Or look at Moore at WBA- hardly in the relegation fight. Ranieri worked absolute wonders at Leicester then not long after got sacked by the owner chasing a quick solution.

Studies have shown that new managers tend to have a short term positive impact but then the club returns back to their previous form more often than not.

Managers are expected to work miracles on next to nothing at times and when they don't get results they get sacked. Football is mental. Still love it though :D
