I thought they were massive, a sleeping giant and their magnificent fans deserve to see premier league football?

15 minutes in and I’m not sure they’re a slam dunk for top 2 - been woeful so far

To be fair they’ve shifted nearly 28000 season tickets in division three.

I would hope so as a one team city. Have they all decided not to go today?

It’s a city with a population less than twice that of the town of barnsley - and has sold more than three times the number of season tickets.

What’s your point? I’m no Sunderland fan and don’t want to get drawn into defending them but I’ve never heard any of their fans doing the massive talk like our neighbours from sheffield and Leeds. They’ve taken two back to back relegations and still shell out their hard earned in impressive numbers, and I don’t sense any preciousness or sense of entitlement.

And as for not turning up, the stand behind one goal is sparse but as a percentage of the capacity I’d say they are more full then Oakwell will be today. But I’m not interested in a ‘better fans than them’ argument.

I’m more interested in the fact that they don’t look particularly great for the favourites for the division. Hopefully we’ll be better.

I’ve worked there quite a bit and that’s exactly how they see themselves.

    There's 31,000 there today.
Wish Oakwell was as empty as that every other Saturday

Jammy buggers. Would have been lovely for them to get on the teams back first week.
