Broken metatarsal wasn't it? All I can remember being said was that "it would keep him out for a while". I'd guess 3 months to fully heal.
Not great news. Thought he might be back after the international break. We go on with our one-dimensional attack then.
Because of set pieces mainly. Someone posted something before the game in Sussex about this and what Brighton thought of Barnsley.
I'm sure we'll cope. That one dimensional attack currently has us sat 7th in the table. I know payne has played a small role in that but don't think he's affected many results. Chin up! Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
Yep. And that was shot down as a myth when one of the posters on here said that only 6 of our 19 goals were from set pieces. But that doesn't suit your agenda does it? The only thing we don't seem to have is an out and out target man, but perhaps we don't really need one with the way we play. Watkins and Bradshaw are more than adequate in that department, as we saw against Reading when Bradshaw laid it to Armstrong to rifle in. Winnall is struggling of course, but I think he deserves a bit of slack with the credit he's built up from last season. His link up play isn't great, but he's also likely to go on a streak of scoring 5 in 5 or something. I'd start Watkins and Armstrong personally, but I trust the manager.
goodness me. imagine using the league table and thinking it's a true reflection on how good the team is. we are in September still. I see Hull are 12th in the table in the Prem. It means nothing at the moment Hull are nothing but relegation certs
I see Hull are 12th in the table in the Prem. It means nothing at the moment Hull are nothing but relegation certs[/QUOTE] Just like leicester last season where relegation certs
Might have been a bit predictable yesterday but we've been a bag of tricks up front for months now, not often we don't score, even at the higher level we're at. We've seen two quality sides in the last week do a good job stifling the supply, although Kent made a decent impact yesterday, and even Kpekawa put some quality crosses in yesterday. Form is temporary, class permanent. We know there are have been a few below par performances against Reading and Brighton but I think it's as much the quality of the opposition player as it is a quiet performances from some of the reds. Watkins plus one from Armstrong, Bradshaw and Winnall up front for me. With Janko's injury, we're going to rely on Kent on the right wing for a while and whilst it's my own opinion, I think Watkins is an absolute pain in the @rse for central defenders and gives them something different to think about.
That's the thing. I don't think Reading are that good a team and we struggled with 11 vs 11. Again that's why I don't look at the league table. They are 4th at the moment and aren't anywhere near that in the champ. Watched them play against Ipswich and they weren't at it for long periods of the game. Boooo's from the stands ........
Seriously, what planet are you on? They finished third last season. At what point in Barnsley's history have we EVER turned up at a team with that pedigree at this level and expected to win? Hemsworth, you need a reality check. Barcelona are the team you watch on sky every week. You need to recognise the difference and manage your expectations accordingly.
The one dimensional attack with 10 different goalscorers and the biggest, most varied total in the league?
And what is wrong with set pieces? It's a reflection on how a team is playing, to be awarded the opportunities. And a useful weapon, if you know how to use it. Thing is, most teams don't. We happen to be relatively handy with it, as well as open play. And not even been awarded a penalty yet... You don't half put your foot in it, Phil...
'Because of set pieces mainly'. We've not even scored a third of our goals from set pieces. The gift that keeps on giving
