Folk wanted Lee & Conway away from day to day operations. It happened. We got relegated & said there was a £7m hole that needed plugging with sales. It's happened/happening. We said we wanted a manager with experience in this league. It's happened. He said it would take time to turn around the mentality of a group who had a shocker of twelve months. That's happening. I've lost a bit of interest these last couple of years, but from the outside isn't all this part of the plan/the new bods addressing the situation they've been left with?
The problem is that the plan needs about £7m of new capital, either from player sales or the owners. At the moment the likelihood of that looks pretty slim.
I reckon we're pretty close in terms of reduced wages from Helik/Styles/Brittain/Oulare/Woodrow/Morris and the incoming transfers for 'em.
Tell me a manager who doesn't want help? Or more players. It's been a tough window, but I'm pretty sure he knew the constraints & all we can do now is offer him the time he deserves to build something from scratch.
I never expected millions spent and a team that would challenge at the top, but I expected them to equip the great manager they hired with a squad that was competitive at this level. Frankly they haven't done that at all. He's been asking for strikers for months and has been given a 'development loan' player. He's asked for a RWB again for months and as of yet nothing........ It's beyond pathetic. Don't get me started on the loan for styles situation either. Khaled and co are beyond useless. They are undefendable for me now. Absolutely useless
Don't have an issue with a transition season, an admittance that someone fked up appointing the 2 clown managers would be nice, but announcing new board and raising optimism so people renew their season tickets is smoke and mirrors. I haven't renewed cos its obvious so I shouldn't really pipe up but if I had I'd feel completely duped.
I hope you are right but to confirm the financials, the club needs to cut the wage bill by around £6m and raise £7m from transfer fees. Bigger cuts in the wage bill will mean less for the transfer revenue. This is based on the figures for the club in 2019 when trading loses were £5m with a wage bill of £8m. Last filed accounts showed a payroll of £14m. To sustain the loss of £5m (last time in league one) and to service the loan from the EFL the club needs a further £7m of capital.
I've not renewed either. But I don't see any smoke and mirrors - what they're doing is exactly what they said they would do to anybody that would listen. We need to sell players to balance the books. They said it. They're doing it.
I've read this a couple of times but it's been a long day and it's not sinking in. Say it again for me slowly/in a different way mate, sorry.
My main but not only issue with 'the boards' approach is that the manager isn't given enough say in signing players. We're acting like Man City with a Mansfield budget. Delete the spreadsheet, we're in League 1, maybe scout some players ???? Or is it still James Crynes play thing?
Given we have Norwood, Cole, Aitchison and Tedic as striking options I expected at least one new forward. I’m sure we can stretch to a loan? Not looking good at the moment….
There has never been anybody more critical/sceptical of our approach than me. In fact, I took some right f.cking hammer for it when I was asking Patrick to his face in front of a room full of people what involvement their young un had in the club where he lied to my face - and everybody elses - and said none. But I genuinely don't think you can blame the spreadsheet for what's happened this window. I really would like to, mind.
Well i expected a forward line that was better than league two standard but maybe I’m asking for too much with these clowns in charge.
I'm pretty sure they did, too. But if nobody wants to come & you can't afford anyone half decent you're a bit f.cked aren't you. Is what it is.
