Four defeats, four poor performances from the players both individually and as a team. When we started the squad rebuilding three years ago, after relegation, the lads coming in were doing it at Division 1 level. Mistakes were getting made, but the punishment for these errors was not always particularly severe. Unfortunately, this group of players are at a higher level and any mistake is being pounced upon. It's a steep learning curve and I'm willing to show patience, even though it's currently extremely frustrating.
Two years ago, the players who were to be lauded for their well deserved success a few months later, were languishing at the foot of Division 1. There certainly wasn't anyone demanding their contracts be extended then. After all, these were all poor players and some fans were more than happy to point this out. "If you want proof they're poor players, simply look at the table. It doesn't lie". "If Preston want to sign Hourihane for £300,000, I'll happily drive him there myself". "If Hourihane & Winnall are our best players, then that proves just how bad we are". "This is the worst Barnsley team I've ever seen". If these people can make these comments about that talented & successful team and players, then they can also be revisited at a later date.
I've no idea how far this current bunch of lads can, or will, progress. But I'm certainly not prepared to throw any of them, or the coach, under the bus. Others can say or do as they wish, it's their right and they should be allowed to voice it without being subjected to personal abuse. However, that's a two way street. As far as I'm concerned, I can only give my interpretation of events and the people attacking individual players, the team as a whole, the Head Coach, the owner, the CEO, do not speak for me. I'll do that for myself.
Being the eternal optimist I'm now looking forward to next Saturday's game against Derby.:)
    Sorry for the tome.:D

Aye , Hourihane wasn`t built in a day and he looked just as interested as Moncur does at times to doing the hard yards.

    Totally agree, BL.

I back Cryne Hecky players et al 100% and will be doing that until season's end.

Just a few additions to squad in january .isgrove injury a weak point.
Not having him there Mc burnie would have added to squad and we would have been further along.
    Looking forward to team improving

    I do agree. Good post.

Only point I'd make is that promotion back to the championship was hard to earn and if we lost 2 or 3 and gained a decent striker and an experienced central midfielder it may make the difference in may. I think Hecky has alluded to this in recent interviews. If Matty James was back fit in January another loan could be beneficial for all parties.

We need a change of plan and need some experience in at xmas. Two forwards centre back to aid the young defence and a decent holding midfielder like kevin richardson type

Lost too many players at once between summer and January.Mammouth task for hecky.
Replacing that many that left destabilised the ship.
The plan is a good one if its tweeked by loosing a few and then replacing them .gelling players in based on the spreadsheet .tweeking works but mass overall is a big task and Heckys the man for the job.
Tweeked by creative spreadsheet in January which needs to be wide ranging to have a bigger catchment area i.e foreign imports possible
Bet Heckys looking at targets now.
    Just wish takeover was complete
Players in built on ability is a must just to make things work better
