Don’t think that’s classed as essential travel

    Funny you should say that

Last night I ordered a take away and we usually get it delivered but wife was close to the take away after doing shopping at Tesco’s so she collected , wasn’t sure at the time if she was doing anything wrong .

If so was doing something wrong why are takeaways allowed to offer collections

Our lass told me about this last night and I thought she was exaggerating. I couldn't believe that so many people would go out and queue for such a long time for low grade fast food.

We collected tapas from the Royal. Rang you when to go up and get it, social distancing. Delicious!

No she wasn't, I have on more than one occasion nipped to to The Tap at Stairfoot. Was the journey essential? I wanted to get a wobble on so yes it most certainly was.

I have never been to a Costa, on foot or drive-thru. Are people just queuing up to buy a coffee? The paper cup with a lid on that leaks, that you see scattered all over the shop?

Don't forget the vastly overpriced piece of cake or cookie too.

You can now get a cup of Costa coffee from a vending machine either
in your local garage or a motorway service station and they go to great lengths to say that the
quality is on a par with what you get , if you bought it from one of their coffee shops.

What I don't understand therefore, is why all the hype about the trained Barista , the way they roast
the beans and the in store extortionate costs, when at the end of the day, you can get a cup from one of their
    vending machines cheaper.?

It's just an exploitation of branding/marketing. If you compared a coffee from a 'Costa' machine with a coffee made by a trained barista, there would be no comparison. As for pricing, well.. £2 for an espresso in the UK or €1 for the real deal in Italy.. I've even paid as little as 50 cents over there.

It’s expensive but it’s good coffee. Same with Starbucks etc.

I like the way people walk with the Costa logo outwards when they've bought one. Look at me with my expensive coffee.

It always makes me laugh when things say ‘for just the price of a coffee’. I would never pay that price for a coffee (and not just because I can’t stand the smell or taste of the stuff).

Cant blame them for wanting to do something different other than sit in the house/garden drinking.

My favourite little coffee shop opened for 4 hours saturday and was sold out by about twenty past ten of every cake and brownie they had. People were queing up past the white bear...

The coffee even out of a paper cup was like amber nectar.

    The baked goods. Fantastic.

Yet it wasnt just about the coffee. It was about doing your bit to support a local family run business.

Even though the cakes had gone people still came.

    Saddos....

Always baffled me, how many people came into the office each morning carrying a coffee, which must have added up to about £40 a month, then started moaning about their finances.

Oh, don’t. My ex line manager was obsessed with Costa and used to arrive late and often sneak out of work in the middle of the day to go get one. She was always moaning about having no money, did my head in.

I live by my mum's expression: if you look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves. It's surprising how much better off you can be by cutting out regular small amounts of unnecessariness. Each to their own, of course. :)
