BBC News - Son 'angry' at being moved away from mum at dad's funeral https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-54431900
I was going to "Like" your post but somehow it just seems the wrong response Totally agree though I think in this particular instance it was some jobsworth empowered by regulations that were applied even beyond the intention of our Leaders. Clearly someone didnt use their common sense Dreadful for the family though as if it wasnt bad enough already
Common sense. Ah yes, I remember that some time in the past. It's long gone for lots of organisations/official bodies
Considering the son's admirable forbearance, I couldn't help but feel the jobsworth had a bit of a result there.
My family had a similar experience this week then the vicar came into the church and ordered the bereaved son to select two people to remove from the church as there were 32 people present. 32 in a church that can usually hold almost 700 people and which for a Sunday service is currently allowed around 80 to 100 people in depending on bubbles (and are allowed to sing). Where's the logic or common sense? 30 people is less than one person per pew.
Sorry for your loss . There is no logic or common sense - I fail to understand why: 1. for a normal church service you can have whatever number can safely sit and maintain distancing in a church ( so far this seems OK) 2. for a funeral in the same church you can only have 30 people (why are they worried people will comfort each other) 3. For a wedding in the same church you can only have 15 (WTAF go on explain that one) Most of the British public are happy to follow sensible rules but when they become stupid it brings the whole law into disripute and people start to ignore it. I thought singing was banned in church except for a small socially distanced choir of no more than 6 behind screens
None of it makes any sense any more. If it ever did. I would have been outraged Supertyke if that had happened to me.
Thanks. I also thought it was banned but I just checked the churches website and it says hymn books are not given out at services but single use hymn sheets are instead.
It's awful and sad but if we had a proper track and trace system in place which folk could trust this wouldn't be needed. Its appalling that the promise of a world system is nothing but a pipe dream. If this was sorted in May the government no matter their failings I think would have had public backing in the most part. Now it's a sh*tshow no one trusts them or their private investment contractors and clearly they can't be trusted to run a bath let alone the country. How can normal folk and businesses have any confidence than any next steps will work. So many people have suffered and how many have got rich? Follow the money, charlatans leave a trail of green note breadcrumbs.
Ours is a small one and we took most of the chairs out now arranged in 1's and 2's all 2m apart reduced the capacity to 30 but thats OK as we dont get that many usually anyway - the main church also operating distancing limited to around 90 and they are streaming service s live on youtube so any that dont want to attend can still watch from home. Shame you cant go to yours what is the reason?
Cheers Mr Kev. Without sounding heartless (what me?) the person in question has been ill for a while so it's for the best really.
