Hows does these items relate to coronavirus??? Shelves being stripped at supermarkets of these items. Why ??? The government has asked us to wash our hands more often. It hasn’t asked us to eat beans and pasta then wipe our ar.ses on a more regular basis. So what’s happening??? Or is it another case of the great British public going bonkers again ???
They are essential goods that won't perish easily in the event that you have to isolate for 7-14 days or longer. Same with Frozen food.
And toilet roll is the worse one because unlike beans and pasta we all need toilet roll. So with people wiping out supermarkets even those who don't want to stockpile probably feel they need to stock up or get some when they see it.
I filled my freezers up with food (frozen veg, potatoes, meats etc), got some tinned goods (beans, spaghetti, soups) and rice/pasta. I also bought a packet of 18 toilet rolls, despite having 7 already in the house. It's about preparation in the event of having to isolate for 7-14 days or longer. Does this make me selfish? I didn't empty the shelves of toilet paper, I bought one packet a week or 2 earlier than I normally would and bought some frozen food. I'd rather be safe than sorry to be able to provide for me and my family if we are unable to leave the house for an extended period.
You're not wrong. But at the same time, I did the same thing. I didn't feel good about it, but I refuse to feel guilty for buying a packet of toilet roll.
Then why not tins of soup etc - what’s the significance of beans and pasta ??? And where does toilet roll come in to all this ? Have I missed summert ? I don’t think I have - I can nearly guarantee that it’s herd mentality.
I honestly don't know why toilet paper. My best guess is people buying them in case of runny nose/diarrhea and then others buying because they know it's in short supply.
Yes I could understand it if diarrhoea was one of the coronavirus symptoms. But it’s not. The whole coronavirus circus seems to be like Brexit on speed.
Selfishness and completely unnecessary panic. It's not just the media contributing to the hysteria, just watch QT last night and the guest they had on challenging every bit of advice that has been given out.
Diarrhea is a symptom actually. It's a very rare one, though. Not common enough to panic buy over it.
It probably started with people worried out being isolated or locked down and they would run out. But then because it wa selling out day to day it's just panicked more people. I agree its bonkers there is no shortage at all it gets re stocked but everyone is just buying it all every day.
They buy the beans then the pasta then think ‘ if I have to eat beans and pasta for 3 weeks I’ll be shitting myself ‘ ... toilet rolls
Just been to Tesco at Stairfoot. The empty shelves say a lot about the mindset of the British public. So so easily influenced by what others say.
I assume by your comments you haven't bought anything extra? Out of interest, what's your plan if yourself and your household develop symptoms and thus are directed to isolate for 7 days? I'm not being hostile or trying to say that you're wrong, it's a genuine question. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ordinarily have enough food in the house to last me 'properly' beyond my weekly shop, which is why I've stocked up my freezers and bought some tinned goods. I want to make it clear that I haven't gone mad with buying. I bought some bags of frozen veg, potatoes, chips, meat etc. that will last for multiple meals each. I've also bought some tins/packets of soup, spaghetti, rice etc. versatile ingredients that I can make a variety of meals with, just in case.
25 rolls of toilet paper in case you have to stay in the house for 14 days. What are you doing? Eating it?
Well said nudge. Some people are completely thick. They do what they see on TV, The really damn annoying thing is that our government gave these idiots the power to completely wreck our country
