It's probably been answered before but could anyone enlighten me as to exactly why we can only use one half of the old West stand?Somebody said it was for H&S reasons but that was it. What exactly is the problem (s)?
It was because the club didn't want to pay for stewards in that area. Now it's because they've knocked the toilets down effectively mothballing the stand.
Well the toilets behind the old West stand at the Ponty end side wouldn't take much of a job to build after all we are just p_ssing against a wall with one standard toilet at the end , so it wouldn't take much to build similar. I suspect the unwilling to pay for stewarding arguement holds more water so to speak (every pun intended). There was a time when the now empty end side was designated to away supporters. When exactly was it closed off?
I don't know exactly when, but I can give you a game when I know away fans were definitely in it. We can see if there are any advances on it: Barnsley 5-2 Leeds, September 2010.
They put Yeovil in there in the championship, when they gave the away stand to schools. 14th December 2013
I can almost guarantee they won’t be allowed to build a new toilet block like the one in the west stand. It would not pass regulations now
Theres actually 2 toilets near ponty end , but reduced to 1 on Saturday because some dirty bastxrd sh*t on toilet seat
I flooded it once trying to flush my sh1tty pants down it. It was the game against Burnley in the cup I got that excited when Rose scored that I farted and followed through.
Isn't it just a mirror image of the south side of the same stand? If that were true surely the whole stand would be shut.
I don't think it is a mirror image because the area behind the stand gets smaller as you go towards the Ponte End. It's like a cheese wedge.
Just wondering where the disabled access for the south side is. Presumably around the side of the stand which is just the same on the north side.
I was under the impression that for a stand's full capacity, a certain percentage should be made available for disabled fans and rightly so, in my opinion. Perhaps by only using half the capacity it influences that objective? As it stands, there are no disabled facilities.
I know that they said they couldn't move the away fans to the west stand for that reason but my take on that was that it was because then there would be no disabled facilities for away fans at all whereas they could open it as well as the North stand because then there still are some which is why the home end of the west is allowed to open because we have disabled areas in the ponty end. On a related note I've only just realised there aren't any disabled seats in the east stand at all so if you're disabled youre only possible seats are behind the goals. That's a bit shoddy really, wouldn't take much to retrofit some disabled seats on the front grow of the east stand
There's the corner stand available for the disabled, too. Isn't there space in the East Stand boxes for disabled fans?
In the boxes there are yeah but not in any of the normal seats that I know of and the corner stand is still really just behind the goal isn't it? It's always looked more like an extension of the ponty end than an extension of the east if that makes sense. Might look the other way from the ponty though
