I didnt actually scroll that far down. But even so, it's a piece of A4 folded in two and being sold at £2 a pop. Just print one off if any fool buys it.
I don't believe they are doing them this season. They aren't alone. Many other clubs this season seem to have gone digital, or, done a 16-page/32-page physical copy. And I'm talking supposed big clubs with four and five times the numbers of staff. There are excuses not to, of course there are. And we certainly gave it some thought ourselves. Then decided to revamp it, stick to 64 pages and it's easily the best programme we've done in my time at the club.
No. We've a great deal of subscribers, but on average, if judged per game/issue, we're a few hundred down. Because we've no walk-up. Very few away fans buying them. Again, you'd sell plenty on Grove Street to away fans walking up. It was always going to be the case, which we knew when deciding to continue as normal. But they're not loss-making. Just not much of a profit. At the end of the day, if we'd decided after all these years, to just bin them off, I'm not sure I could have lived with that. I know so many of our fans who would buy a copy if all that was inside was 64 different photos of Carl Regan. That's not knocking them by the way. They just collect them. They love the programme. We weren't comfortable upsetting folk like that. So we decided to make it completely exclusive (there's nothing in Grove Street that you'll find elsewhere.) The interviews (in our opinion) are pretty much warts-and-all. It's not the usual boring football interview. We reached out to local business, local musicians, artists, pubs - the community. To try and shine a light on them in these bleak times. If it doesn't win an award this season, I'll be surprised. And, it's very much my colleague's 'baby' this year. I've had minimal input. That's probably why it's good!
He's doing a load of clubs, all at about £2 a pop. Same 4 page format and none of the money goes to the clubs. Reminds me of the guys that used to sell the pirate programmes back in the day, and just about the same crap standard. Grove Street is the only programme to buy
A suggestion whitey, try to get some back copies into the club shop and into the ground for when fans are allowed back. I reckon there will be quite a few people who would buy them
I don't get why anyone would want one really.. or the concept. Just the league table and squad names printed out. Reminds me of preseason away programmes back in day, and at least they were official and had a few programme notes.
Wtf ......... It just contains a league table, fixtures, no match reports and looks like it was designed by a Yr6 school kid and advertises the fact it's not official club issue?!?! Who on earth would buy one?!?
You've all done a great job and it's the best programme in years. It's a credit to the club and I am glad you've done the usual size/price programme as it keeps a small bit of normality of game day for many. It's also good that it's still profitable. Just need to get the company who sends them out to get around to being more green
We’ve laboured that point with them. They assure us they are sending them in environmentally friendly packaging. But obviously not. It’s all getting logged.
Thank you. For one game a while back they sent out in a jiffy bag so still in plastic, but are not back to see through single use plastic. It shouldn't be so hard for them to send out in a paper envelope.
I'm one of the Carl Regan lovers!! and i'm glad that you continued to produce. And would agree that it is the best programme for content and design etc for many many years. You don't find multiple page interviews in many publications these days, and all have been revealing about the particular subject or interviewee. I am glad you chose to pander to your audience rather than just see the bottom line profit!! That is why I couldn't understand the reason for Sheffield Wednesday, amongst others not producing as they have many more collectors than we do. I am with you aswell if it doesn't win any awards this season I will be amazed and disappointed.
Next issue of Wednesday programme already out , it looks forward to next year https://www.porkbusiness.com/
