We conceded the opening goal in each of our 10 defeats. On two occasions we scored first but conceded an equaliser and drew the game. On one occasion we conceded first but scored an equaliser and drew the game. We've played out two nil-nils. And at Ipswich we conceded first, drew level, conceded again and evened things up again. We have never been in front in a match and lost the game. We have never been behind and won. Only 2 teams have gone behind against us at any point in the game and avoided defeat: Port Vale and Accrington, against whom we drew both games 1-1. Only 2 teams have taken the lead against us at any point in the game and failed to convert that into victory: Portsmouth against whom the match finished 1-1 and Ipswich (twice) when the match ended 2-2. The ref could have blown for full time after the first goal in every match we've played, saving everyone a lot of time and effort, and it would have damn near made no difference. We'd actually be two points better off.
Mentioned it in another thread Jay. We have not won a game coming from behind since November 2021. v Derby. 72 games ago now.
If we do concede first in any of the last games, I hope Duff’s reaction isn’t to make a quadruple change. Never seems to go well
It’s an almost unbelievable statistic especially this season and it’s hard to explain. Small correction. To @Jay though He has the score draws the wrong way round. We came from behind at Ipswich and Portsmouth (both away) we lost the lead at home to Port Vale. So if the ref blew on the first goal we would be on exactly the same points
If you’re only allowed to comment on things if you’re more qualified than Duff to comment, then this forum would be very light on content
No, I was right. We've drawn 6, so 6 points. The two 0-0s against Bolton and Bristol Rovers obviously stay the same. We took the lead against Port Vale and Accrington but drew them both one a piece. So 6 points for those. Ipswich and Portsmouth scored first in ours draws so no points for those. 8 points, two more than we currently have.
Not really. It took me as long to write as it takes to type. I already knew the information within it.
Very true, but there are a lot who think Duff should have done this that or the other implying that he should have done things differently, but I note your comment & think twice before I make any comments on Mr Duff who incidentally I believe is doing a fantastic job .
I stand corrected I misread your original post and thought you only mentioned 3 score draws 2 away and one at home but thought you included Ipswich but that was treated separately, so we have come from behind to finish level in 3 games - the Ipswich game we did it twice, and lost a lead in one ie 4 score draws. Its still an amazing statistic - I have never known a season like it where the first goal was so crucial
Probably happened more this season but over the years I've always thought game, set and match if we've fallen behind. Very rarely have I seen us come from behind to win a match although it must have happened more than I remember.
