just to make sure its not all been a dream. I am happy to find its all real. I would not have predicted this start in a zillion years. We have beaten good few bookies favourites too, and have slammed their prediction for us to be a relegation favourite too. I do not know how long this bubble will grow, but I think we have a team with strength of character to bounce right back from a defeat as or when it comes.
It was after 7 games in 96/7 that we had a lean period, a few 0-0 draws and the odd defeat, they showed the character to get through it and come out stronger. I think this group of players has the strength and belief to do the same. It's a younger squad though, so Hecky and Tommy might have to work their magic on them..... Also Hammill has found a new role as the father-figure of the squad and his influence goes far beyond the flashes of brilliance on the pitch.
well I have always said that... the Championship/L1/L2 have three zones of 8. Top 8 ....genuine contenders , Middle 8.... solid consolidated teams, Bottom 8.... dog fight strugglers. Last season I would have been more than happy with a mid 8 and a team developing well, WOW what a fantastic surprise for us ... This term I was happy again to hope for mid 8 solid finish with sure signs of development and growth.... but the way they are shaping who knows ....the dream could happen. But as long as we remain at this level at least, then I will be ok with that. I certainly do not want either of the lower 2 levels ever again.
Just enjoying being 'in the moment', no bold predictions for the season from me. It's a wonderful time for Barnsley fans and occurs all too rarely. It's a long time since I've felt such a connection between the fans, squad, Head Coach & his staff and the club as a whole. There'll always be some who find fault at anything and anyone they can, but that's always been the case. These people are very few and far between, though. If they're incapable, or unwilling, to appreciate, enjoy and revel in Barnsley FC at this time, that's their loss.
I am so glad to be coming up on saturday campsite booked (Castleton).... match ticket booked (and delivered).... cannot wait. Will you be visiting 'Redfearns' before the match matey ???
Re: I am so glad to be coming up on saturday It all depends on barnsley66, mate. We're not ones who normally go for a pre match drink.
