Thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the feeding of the animals very therapeutic (the donkeys were my personal favourite). A big surprise was that until the end of March, it's free entry. I've not been for about fifteen years, but I'll definitely be going again soon. I'd recommend paying it a visit, especially with young children (or even big kids like me!). By sheer coincidence, it also featured on this afternoon's edition of Escape To The Country.
Feeding donkeys and watching Escape to the country. Kev you dinna half live life on the edge these days.
Hope you told em it was the best ever feeding session in the history of Wigfield farm. Went there in the early 90s, used to take my first doggy Jimmy for Sunday walkies around that area and Rockwell and Stainborough. Many happy memories.
Went round wosboro res yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it, some cracking photos of wild fowl and Robin's.
Used to feed polos to the horses when I went out with my Gran as a little girl. Think I'd be in trouble doing that nowadays!
Every year we went there with primary school. Every. Single. Year. It was nice enough but it put me off for life, especially as they pretended one of the pigs was named after our school and I hate liars. It just used to wind me up as a child when we went back the year after and they asked us what we called this pig (that was supposed to be the same one) and I’d just think that obviously they would know if it was its name and they didn’t have enough pigs to let all schools name them so why would they let us. I was a very serious child
Plenty of interesting places in the Barnsley area. The cash competition on this week on ITV's " This Morning", is from Cannon Hall Farm and an edition of " Bargain Hunt" on BBC TV last week, was filmed at the Elsecar Heritage Centre.
Problem is, if I go there when I visit the family in Barnsley, I'll have to tick the "Have you visited a farm in the last two weeks" box on the USA customs form, and who knows what that triggers. The sound of latex gloves being stretched and snapped, comes to mind
I had a lovely chip butty (I know, you can't buy class!) today. All the staff were very helpful and extremely friendly.
