Not born for another 6 years when this happened but enjoyed watching this. Route 1 at its best for Rileys goal. https://youtu.be/2psFD2_MGzI
Thanks for posting that, mate. It brought back happy memories. Certainly doesn't feel like 37 years ago.
I was there, good to see that again, cheers. A 'number 10' breaking from midfield after creating space for the move. But yeah, modern coaching invented that role.
Not quite so happy viewing - the West Brom game from the 89/90 season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RHvdl2EVrU
Standing areas behind both goals, but standing behind high FENCES. Football was rubbish then wasn't it?
Just saw further down that list our 5-3 victory the following season (Mark Robinson, Mark Smith & an Ian Banks hat trick) in the Zenith Data Systems Cup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMPuMHfAQHI
Great run from Mike Lester, very much an unsung hero, scored a screamer at Ayersome Park in the FA Cup 3rd round - lost 2-1 but outplayed them from 20 minutes on (1st Division against 3rd). Didn't make it to the Wednesday game, but was at Oakwell when they beat us 3-0 at the start of 79/80 season.
That was my first visit to Hillsborough, I didn't go again until the late 80s, and didn't see us win there again until the 1-0 win when Campbell Rice scored. Proper bogey ground! Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Only seen us win there once 1983, Glavin came on as sub 20 minutes from the end, scored with almost his first touch. What a player.
Re: Only seen us win there once Sat in there end for that game, Wednesday fans were bricking it cos Glavin was coming on as a sub.
Re: Only seen us win there once I was in the Leppings Lane end dodging coins for 90 minutes.... I was massively disappointed that Glav was only sub, the Wendy fans were probably delighted. He showed us why we were all right....
