Being absolutely pointless once again. Just ruled out a goal in the Newcastle game for absolutely no reason.
Whilst I haven't seen that particular one, it's genuinely amazing at the incompetence and inconsistency employed - its like they're doing it on purpose to piss everyone off to the point where its gotten rid of.
Var didn’t rule it out. The ref gave the free kick and var didn’t overturn his decision; it was soft and a pretty poor decision to protect the keeper but the ref having made the call wasn’t going to be overruled as there was a bit of contact so it was never going to be ‘clear and obvious’ to change the decision to goal.
True. But VAR showed itself to be absolutely pointless in rectifying the decision. The pen shouldn’t have been a pen either not that VAR gave it.
At least they got him to change the second one. If that’s a penalty we’ll get rugby scores in every game. Back turned, can’t see the ball, arm only out as he was jumping, and the lad headed it onto his arm from point blank range (and even via a little deflection off his own head). You can’t give that - and it’s a worry that pawson, who had a great view of it, saw that as handball in the first place. The pitch side review showed him little he hadn’t already seen - just gave him another chance to make the right decision.
