Looks like they are bringing this in for the play offs. Rumoured to be as a result of complaints raised by Forest after poor refereeing against Bournemouth. Wrong to introduce at this point of season and only for Championship if true IMO.
Presumably all 4 clubs would have to agree to it? If they do, I don't think it's an issue. Obviously there's the argument for teams who have just missed out on the play-offs who might feel they wouldn't have done so with VAR. I can feel Sheffield United's lawyers refilling their fountain pens as we speak.
Ayews goal against us in the first leg of the play offs last season was off side if I remember rightly. If they'd been using VAR we might have gone on to beat Swansea. I fancied us in the final too.
What there was a sh*t and biased ref in an important Championship game - how unlucky for Forest - what are the chances of that Didnt watch it so dont know how bad the ref was but its not hard to imagine. No problem with them bringing it in for the playoffs if all 4 teams are happy with it
I genuinely believe that had we reached the Prem, these owners wouldnt have done anything differently. I think, they think, they know better and that they can reinvent the game. They'd have still got rid of Val for a bigger fee, the season wouldn't have been a failure as we'd have sold a few on the back of promotion and then we'd start all over again in the Prem. Relegated by Xmas and still silence from Conway. Or, they'd have pocketed the £100m and done a runner, it's more money than any of them have ever seen. Billionaires my @rse.
VAR in the hands of the clueless buffoons at PGMOL has not, is not and never will be fit for purpose. The technology is fine and perfectly capable of fulfilling its remit of correcting obvious errors. Unfortunately it is overseen by incompetent humans who cannot resist reintroducing subjectivity into the mix.
Ridiculous if that costs us a chance of promotion I'm complaining!......oooo err hang on this isn't the sarcasm thread is it?
Presumably its a cost issue? I'd imagine the number of cameras required for VAR goes into double figures. I imagine it's the clubs involved who would have to foot that bill. With the amount of televised games in the Championship no, I'd assume most championship clubs have the equipment in place. Whereas leagues 1 & 2 clubs might not. Obviously I'm making a lot of assumptions though. I'm firmly in support of VAR and would like it across the football league.
You’re probably right, they charge each game at £9, 251+VAT, so can understand lower leagues not wanting that in Semi finals. Just looking further into it teams drawn at a PL team in the cup have to pay half and have no choice. It’s been estimated tickets of 3000 are needed to cover costs meaning in theory(never happened yet) a lower team could end up losing money if the tie had less. Interestingly only 1 month ago the EFL were adamant it would not be used only goal line technology.
