We are hopefully moving to Penistone in the coming months (currently just outside Wakey).

My son and stepson are both currently 9 and have been playing for a club near us a year above (U10 last year when technically U9).

When we move we’ll need a new club for them.

We have messaged Penistone Church but they currently have no space.

One slight issue is that my son already plays in the Sheffield and District League every other weekend when with his Mum, so he can’t join a club at least at U10 age group in that league.

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good clubs not too far from Penistone that might need a couple of players?

Also any info on the leagues that are around would be useful - is there a Barnsley league?!

    Cheers

My lad’s just signed up with Peni Church U12s. I think Oxspring might have been looking for numbers, but not sure what age group. Worth giving em a shout though. It’s not easy to find a Club, as I think they’re capped at 14 players.

My 7 year old plays at Holmfirth Town Juniors in the Huddersfield Junior Football League, yes it's a little out the way from Penistone but it's a brilliant set up for junior football, they offer free football for U4s-5s on a Saturday morning and from U6 upwards they run a model where all teams train twice per week. The club was set up by ex professional Andrew Watson, the organisation and set up is brilliant and not far off academy level, they generally have very strong teams at each age group but cater for all abilities with multiple teams. Happy to pass on contact details to you as you may wish to take your boys for a try out first. Training will be starting again in the next couple of weeks.

The Barnsley League only went up to u11s last year as at that point most teams move to the Sheffield or Huddersfield or Doncaster leagues.
Oxpring Utd had an u10s team last year in the Barnsley league so they might be worth checking out.
Alternatively Cumberworth FC had an u10s last season in the Huddersfield league and they look like they play at Birdsedge.

Another option is to find a JPL team or a team in the North Derbyshire league to play for on a Saturday.
