"Avoid" not "banned"...the devil is in the detail.

What about insurance companies paying out ?

What if the tickets are booked independently with companies based abroad ?

That's what I mean .....by saying "avoid" they are leaving loopholes for companies to wriggle out of but the traveller can still go at their own risk. Once again...no clear message from the government.

Worrying for those working in travel agents because they might not open back up for months. You can't blame the ban from being put in because we can't risk people bringing it here when our own NHS is so busy. Travel agents used to foreign travel may have to look at arranging more UK based holidays.

a good idea. Mind you, when the restrictions are lifted holidays will cost an absolute bundle.
I gather there still no word about what is happening to the season. Anyone care to speculate? Again.

We still aren't stopping people from arriving here and just walking out of the airport/port/rail terminal and into the country. The volume has dropped significantly, but we aren't applying any quarantine to people entering the UK.

Why would the cost increase? They'll be desperate to get things back up and running - I'm not sure I could hazard a guess at how prices will move.

There'll be less money about, so high prices just means no one will go OR everyone will be so desperate to go it'll be a heavily oversubscribed and expensive.

    Ours can't.
Been a right ball ache with insurance company et al.
Emirates will not refund our flights but will offer a voucher to fly within the next 12 months. We can't get enough holiday days off together over this period to do this.
    Insurance says tough ****.
    Hotel have refunded us though.

I think the prices will increase significantly when we get the first sniff that things will be 'opened back up'. I will at some stage have to visit my family overseas. The flight prices for August (wishful thinking) have dropped over the last 2 weeks. I'm thinking of gambling and booking it now. I have my AL booked for then as well. I fully expect those flight prices to go higher than they originally were as soon as restrictions are lifted. Just an opinion we'll just have to wait and see I guess.
