Went up town last night for a bite to eat and whilst there took the opportunity to look at the perspex plaques commemorating the Barnsley pals. Quite a few just bear a name but a lot have the pictures of the men remembered, walking along reading the names and seeing the faces brought a tear to my eye especially as one had the same name as me, need to do a bit of research there. I would encourage everyone who can to go see this display particularly at night when it is all lit up and read one of the tall perspex plaques in the square near the fountains which reports on a recruitment drive at Oakwell during the half time interval of the Barnsley v Grimsby game, certainly made me think and feel pride and sadness that my fellow Barnsley men stood up for what they believed in often paying the ultimate price. We will remember them.
