First half we weren't at the races at all. Could barely string 2 passes together, Hammill seemed to be on his backside half the time and Bradshaw wasn't in the game whatsoever. It felt like we were QPR on Wednesday with how much the opposition dominated & were in control. A great strike for their goal although one does question why the lad had that much time to hit it. At HT Payne was brought on for TB. This made all the difference. Stefan was quicker, stronger, better in the air & linked up better. Just as the half started we finally pulled off one of those giants throws with Alfie leaping like a salmon to out-jump the GK. After that we grew in confidence and took the initiative with wave after wave of attacks. Out of nothing Stefan was 1 on 1 with the keeper after Whitehead slipped, he did everything right from the run to the technique but unfortunately the ball agonizingly bounced out after hitting the post. Towards the end of the game it was end to end stuff and on another day it would have been us with the wild celebrations, of course though on this occasion Hogg was left completely unmarked and punished us infactically. Overall it was fairly encouraging but I'm afraid defensive mistakes will cost us more & more this season.
Would have been brilliant to hold onto a point. But we were on the right side of a late winner on Wednesday and sometimes that just happens. The best thing is we are looking good as a team. Home and Away. Would love to have got a point just to get of the ground away. Get that monkey off our back early. Bradshaw still to blend with squad. Winnall to come back. And perhaps a couple new players to add extra strength to the first team and squad. Would have bitten your hand off for this start.
