Is the following right :- Agent gets in touch with the club - directed to Tommy Wright. Tommy Wright assesses player. Agent offers Tommy Wright K5 if player given contract. Player offered contract - agent gets pay off from contract and gives TR said K5. (What we don't know is would player have been given contract without the bung.) Whether we call them softeners, sweeteners, or bungs this goes on at all levels - clients wined and dined and gifted to get contracts in the business world -- take your child to hospital, slip the doctor some cash and your child will get priority treatment etc. As a student some years ago I had a summer job driving visitors around one of the Shetland Islands. I would always end trip in this pub car park, inevitably most visitors went in for a meal. Owner would then give me a cash payment (bung?) for getting him the custom. tbh can't see what all the fuss is about. Were it not for the Allardyce business TR would hardly have made local news let alone the national news. yes, I'd be concerned were we to sign dud players but that didn't happen. TR has played a massive part in what has been a magic twelve months for us. I would have been happy had he stayed.
The 5k was for TW to recommend valuable players who might switch agents and also to get the Far East lot into Oakwell to talk to PC.
Is it? That was intended I think as well as. But wasn't it more of. Agent. Tell me what players you have who are good enough to be sold for millions. Tw Here you are. Agent great here's 5k. Agents would then have proceeded to contact each players offering them money also to drop existing agent and sign up for them. Agent then puts pressure on said player to leave. Club then has an unsettled player and sells. Agent pockets more money Etc Etc
Why would the Far East lot as you call them need TW to get to speak to Cryne? All they have to do is pick up the phone.
The £5k was to get part owned players by the fake company into BFC and TW's role was to create the connection to PC and Hecky. The rest of the stuff about getting Hourihane and Mawson was just a side event and not really a major issue here.
Glasgow Royal Infirmary - 3 years ago - nasty cyst on back - wait two weeks to get it done on NHS or take Dr's offer of paying him £500 to go privately and have it done that afternoon. Pub owner paid me a tad less than £5K ! The point I'm making is that tipping, backhanders, perks or what ever we call them are a part of everyday business life.
Yes this ^ is what I think the offer was, with an important addition: Once the potential investors have a few clubs onboard, they will have built up a list of 'extra-talented' players and will then hawk them on to other clubs who've joined up with the offer of 'finance arrangements', i.e. that if a club can't afford the player they really fancy, then some external investors will put up the shortfall.
TW also intended to mislead Patrick over the identity of the former match fixer. That was his most grievous transgression, in my opinion.
