Our best players don't want to play for the club and I'm guessing most will be trying to force moves even if the club want to retain them and the players left just aren't good enough some because of a lack of ability, some because they lack a backbone and don't care and some for both reasons. The board are destroying the club with a recruitment and retention policy that doesn't have on field success and squad requirements at its heart but instead is focused on trying to maximise profit from future player sales and sadly is even failing on that front. The board have twice had real on field success and a united fan base and club and twice managed to destroy golden opportunities to build on success and move the club forward by not investing sensibly when in a position of strength. Last summer was a complete car crash and Conway shouldn't be allowed near the CEO position ever again in fact his judgement is so poor he shouldn't even be allowed to decide which biscuits they have in the Boardroom for meetings never mind having a say in the next head coach or which players we sign. The next few months are vital and wrong decisions this summer could set the club back 50 years. The board need to take a long look at the squad assembled by John Dennis and Danny Wilson in the summer of 1996 and added to during the 96/97 season and recognise that even if they don't have resale values players with age and experience behind them can add significant value to the club.
Just going out and signing a dozen or so U23 rejects from other clubs either from here or abroad won't work in L1 week in week out we need a few old heads in the squad that have been there and done it and can guide the younger players through the rough times in games and through the season as a whole. The board also need to get the head coach position right Whether that be a domestic or overseas appt doesn't matter as long as they can do the job. I really fear for the club it is at a crossroads and a wrong turn could lead to oblivion.

Just had a quick look at this and Crewe, Wimbledon,Doncaster,Lincoln & MK Dons have the youngest teams in L1.
The first 3 are in relegation spots MK are 3rd.
The oldest are Wycombe, Wednesday & Wigan.

After the 3-1 defeat against Preston and a poor second half, it was noted that yesterday's team was so young, Paul Conway ordered they should be given detention for losing thats after Disco made them stand in the corner facing the wall

    On a sad note.....
It's been revealed that the club is to close its laundry room .....a spokesperson who wished to remain anonymous said due to the lack of effort and no sign of sweat blood or tears this season its been pointless wasting money washing what appears to be clean kits week in week out...that said a couple of the players have had to occasionally take their own kits home to wash and have been fined for getting them dirty in the first instance
its rumoured we will be washer sharing with Doncaster Rovers next season another cost cutting avenue that we are exploring
