I thought we were good in the first half but as half time approached and we hadn't scored I felt the worst was gonna happen-and it did. Cardiff just tried to play off our errors and sure enough one came along. We couldn't play more direct as Cole is no target man who can hold up the ball especially when faced with three large centre backs. Last chance saloon tonight but failed again despite a great deal of effort from theads on the pitch.
Best take yet mate. In the Championship you need to make hay while the sun shines. We battered QPR away for 45 mins but Oduor and Woodrow miss chances to make it 0-4. The rest was history. Tonight Benson thinks he's Marco Van Basten taking it first time.
Not only is Cole no target man he never gambles or busts a gut to get on end of crosses. Two or three times tonight a ball was played in and Cole was no where near getting to it . If and when Cauley and Clinton were out this season the quality of replacements always meant we would struggle and the lack of additional midfield contributions just underlined it imo .
Our goal which was disallowed was onside. Checked replays and it should have been allowed. Unfortunately when your lucks out then that's the way it goes...
Said same myself, why we kept knocking it long second half is baffling considering how we played first half. Within 10 seconds of us taking every Every set-piece and throw in their half saw us defending our box. No inventiveness or craft at free kicks. Cardiff were awful last night but hung in there and we all know a costly mistake is forthcoming at the back. To cap it all we had a perfectly good goal disallowed. My very slim hopes of survival were distinguished last night.
Our lack of pace up front and in the wide areas means we can’t get behind teams and so we’re so easy to play against.
