Sorry, but loopholes have always been a bottomless pit. Close one and another opens , its a fact of life.
It should be a simple loophole to close though, shouldn't it? Make it against the rules for owners/staff and their families to purchase sponsorships etc... If they want to do things via a third party, then more fool them. I know I wouldn't risk putting a plot of land as valuable as a stadium into someone elses name, no matter how much I trusted them...
I believe the way Derby and Mel Morris did it was to sell the ground to a company owned by Mel Morris, then the company leases it back to Derby "long-term"
Elev8, the dictators name all over the shop, the taxi firm with no taxis... surely they're going to come down on him soon.
Best way to combat this imo is to have a ground inspection and lump millions of pounds of improvements as a pre condition .
Mmmmmm no promotion in 2 seasons Wendy's get upset, Damand him to sell up and pee off. He sells up and then demands a outrageous price to play in HIS old rust bucket of a stadium. THEN THE OWNERS OF BARNSLEY SAY NO TO WENDY'S YOU CAN'T PLAY IN OUR STADIUM!
It’s a one time fix and desperate times call for desperate measures. An option not open to us until the council sell their stake. Our owners spoke of a long term investment. 50 years from now will we be playing at the New Oakwell Stadium located just off the Cudworth by pass, whilst the old Oakwell sits on prime development land opened up by the Cundy Cross relief road ??
