GK: N/A RB: Certainly much more depth here right now. Yiadom, Bree, Janko. Josh did great but no shafting him into this position. 1-0 current. CB: Better depth again with Nyatanga Gone. However with no Alfie there's no way I can say we're stronger right now. 1-1. LB: Willo's outstanding defensive work will take some beating. A big challenge for Cole. 1-2 POF squad. RM: Strength in depth better here too with the versatility of the squad. Kent has that touch of class over Lloyd. 2-2 CM: Brownhill was brilliant, but yet again I'd say we have far more depth. Morsy should fill the void with Moncur to call upon halfway through. 3-2 current. LM: Nothing to suggest we've strengthed here. I like Elliot but Chapman is the more capable player from what I've seen. 3-3. ST: Hugely strengthened in this area. Fletcher will be a miss but in Armstrong, Bradshaw & Payne we have so many quality options who can add something different to the side. 4-3 current. In conclusion I think we have slightly improved in overall quality, I'm sure the POF side would have started well too. Perhaps it is the new rules but the most pleasing thing about this current squad is all the options we have in every position which we didn't have last season.
Other than lacking a 4th centre mid, and Janko looking a very similar player to Yiadom this has been one of the best transfer windows in years. What is crucial now is getting some of those key 1st teamers on new contracts and I think we could build this in 2/3 years into a very successful squad
The contracts thing will be a tough in this day and age but I guess the more successful we are, the easier that will be. I think Callum Evans could play CM if we were in dire straits. He was playing CM when he got injured a year ago. I believe he played there for Man Utd reserves as well.
I know he's always played full back for the first team but James Bree has always been a central midfielder in the youth teams. Just a thought, albeit probably nothing to it.
He can't play while next season thats all so it's kinda pointless saying we have 4 when one is on crutches
