I find it hard to believe that the players haven't come in for any stick as a collective. Just before and over Christmas they went on a decent run and had chance to climb out of the bottom three only to bottle it. Then they go on another run and win three on the spin only to lose against Reading and Cardiff City. They've bottled it again for me.
They’re inconsistent certainly and lapsidaisical at times. They’ve needed someone to kick their arses on the field at times and Sollbauer has done to some extent since he arrived but they needed a couple of players to give them encouragement or bollockings imo
For me you can't blame the boys, most are out of their depth in this league through no fault of their own and that's not a slight on any of them We have a manager who to be fair is also lacking both tactical and expertise in this league let alone experience of English football... It Could be argued he's trying to make a silk purse out of pigs ears which brings you back to my statement about not blaming the boys... Plus weren't there rumours he was getting told who had to and not play Which clearly if true doesn't help the case... For me the blame for our predicament lies squarely with Conway and Co for putting us there then doing nothing in January to change it
Young players do bottle it without the support of senior pros, I think people understand that, and to a certain extent keep off the players backs.
Shows how bad we've been when even if we had won the last two for five on the bounce, we would still be in the relegation zone.
Not for me (imho) most are young, inexperienced lads at this level....ditto the coach. They are playing against players above their levels most weeks. We have actually done ok against better players/teams most weeks. Responsibility can only be levelled at one body of people.
The players arent at fault. yes they make mistakes but thats a big difference from being at fault. They and whichever of the 3 managers we've had have been hung out to dry.
