How much should I expect to pay for a new UPVC door fitted?

The locking mechanism has failed, so we're trying to work out whether to replace the mechanism or the door. The quote we've had seems very expensive.

We've just had a quote for a composite door, few customisations and stuff and it's £1250 fitted.

The full mechanism. To be honest, think it for a new door.

The mechanism isn't too hard to replace either fired. I'm sure you could get a handyman to replace it.

Or a new door fitted for about £700 (I think that's what I was quoted from jss) or you could always buy a new door and then pay somebody else to fit it for you which would be a lot cheaper.

Been quoted £300 to repair the mechanism. £650 for a new fitted door. Thing is we need a cat flap fitting so the price will go up. Trying to work out whether the 10 year old door will be good as new, or if we just start from scratch.

What's actually wrong with the door at the moment? Is it not locking/unlocking at all?

The mechanism has been dodgy for a while. It does't move up and down with the key. So, we managed to lock it, and daren't unlock it now.

I reckon that £300 is a really expensive quote for repairing or replacing that. From what you say it is literally just the mechanism (or lock) that is broken and nothing to do with the door itself and the whole lock mechanism is only attached with screws so even if you don't know how to replace it yourself you can work out how simple it is for somebody who knows what they're doing

You say that your door isn't locking properly ....I may be able to help.

What is your address and when are you at home ? Do you have other security measures like cctv and do you keep valuables at the property?
