For those at home, there's an item on BBC Breakfast coming up at 8:50 called "The Misery of Football". It's a report from the Sunderland v Burton game at the weekend. Should be interesting......

I do feel sorry for Sunderland fans. At least our players are trying to keep us up. Some of theirs, mainly the ones on big money, really don't give a toss.

They've apparently got the 13th highest debt of all clubs in the main European leagues. They pay £8 million per year in interest. They have players on (allegedly) around £50,000 per week who don't play, won't leave and can't be sold. It wouldn't surprise me if administration was the result.

As far as the item on the news is concerned, it never appeared. Did I hear it wrong?

They have a lot of high earners/under achievers still under contract next season who they will struggle to move on unless they pay them up.

    Only £100million+ in debt.
