Where to start on last night? What a remarkable achievement from Struber and the boys! Struber has done an amazing job. He's done exactly what was required - suring up that defence (with some help from Sollbauer!) was no small task. The team spirit he's generated looks fantastic and he's got us playing with a really attractive style. Will he end up being a Flicker? Time will tell, but I suspect not! He has a style, he has a plan.... hopefully he will have the support of the board. The players have done so well. The whole lot can be really proud of themselves. There's going to be talk of some moving on, but for now they can all, to a man, celebrate a fantastic achievement. Special mentions for me: Mads - as I've said in another thread, I don't know another player who has turned it around so drastically. He looks brilliant. Great character shown to come back from his start to life at Oakwell. Sollbauer - What a difference his experience and leadership has made. If only we'd had him earlier on. Struber's general on the field. Mowatt - Consistently our best player all year. If he can improve his finishing and set pieces he'll be unbelievable. Brown - What a shift he has put in since the restart! He's had to play out of position up front because he's the only one who can press and battle in the air like that. Make no mistake, his athleticism has been invaluable. Walton - Out of nowhere he's come back into the team and done brilliantly. Great saves last night. The board..... have gotten away with one. I've listed off all of their mistakes before (they were shocking and numerous), but they've made 2 great decisions now - getting Struber and backing him by signing Sollbauer. This NEEDS to be a turning point for them. They need to learn from last year's mistakes and back Struber with some experienced signings, or at least the players he wants. We'll probably still sell a couple, but let's do it more strategically. We're better set up with contracts etc now, so if we build smartly this could be a great opportunity for the club. There's a few more clubs with budgets similar to ours next season, giving us a fairer chance. I'd hate to be going down to League 1 this year, with all the uncertainty there. For next year, I'd like to see us bring in some more physical players as a plan B - a striker or 2 is a must, as is a real midfield enforcer. I'm excited to see who we can bring in.... But that's for another day. Well done to everyone at the club! They've done a perfect job since the restart.
