    I dont understand it.

A section of this forum seem to have a fear of bringing players into the football club.

If you say we could do with Isgrove, they say why when we've signed Ryan Kent?

If you say we need a new centre mid, they say so who are you dropping Scowen or Hourihane?

When did people stop wanting the club to progress, when did people forget then injuries, suspensions and loss of form occur frequently throughout a season. We need to sign players better than what we have got.

The likes of Tuton, Sessi, Lee, Payne, Macdonald, Yiadom were signed for peanuts. They were risk free. They weren't signed with having an immediate impact on the squad. Potential, development and resale value were at the forefront of mind when signing these players. Some could surprise and make an impact early, but on the whole they're here as back up as its been long in the mind that emergency loans cannot be used this season.

Because of that its important to carry extra players on the cheap. You might need them or you might not. But when they are called upon they've trained with the first team and should be ready perform and role and hopefully take their chance. Like we saw from George Williams and Marc Roberts last season.

In terms of for the here and now I've always been under the impression the club were leaving it late to sign players on fee's or loans depending on offers for our own players and how we'd performed over the first month.

Over the next week I'd be very surprised if we didn't sign 3-4 players capable of immediately pushing Kent, Hammill, Scowen, Watkins, White ect for a first team place.

I agree. I think mawsons off before end of August and it wouldnt surprise me if Connor is too but this is our way of competing now, identify good talent and increase their value while they play well for us. Players like Aryibi are just another on the conveyor belt of our system that allows us to compete up to a certain level. I think its a good plan as weve seen already this season the gulf in transfer fees from Div 1 to championship and I certainly think there are plenty of good 'cheap' players in Div 1 that are good enough to be good championship players given a little time, this is where we save our brass and compete with the big boys in this division who can buy the finished article at vastly overpriced sums, we could even flog em our players when theyve done the business for us and quadrupled their value. One or two arent going to make it, but thats the gamble but just places more emphasis on good up front research on the potential players we buy.

Can't say I understand it either we need 4/5 players as a minimum to strengthen the squad and give us options.

I haven't seen this 'fear' - there seems to be almost unanimous agreement that we still need somewhere in the region of 3-5 players.

I think you might be trying to fight a battle that isn't there.

I try not to get too wound up on here in general, but let's just get this straight.

    1. You started a thread
    2. I replied saying that, in my opinion, the basic premise of what you were saying just wasn't true, or at least it's not something that I've noticed. I stand by that, and think I pointed it out in a fair and non-confrontational manner.
    3. You replied, in a way that I actually felt was pretty rude. You obviously don't think that I've got anything to contribute to the discussion that you started, but instead of responding nicely or just ignoring it (as I think most people would)*, you purposely make it clear to anybody reading that you're dismissing it out of hand, and have no respect whatsoever for my opinion.
    4. I should have shrugged it off, but it actually really got my back up. However, since you'd made it perfectly clear that you had no interest in pursuing a conversation with me, I did something that I've never before done on this board, and disliked it. God knows why, but it made me feel ever so slightly better.
    5. You see this, and for some reason now decide that you're going to dislike my original (as I say, in my opinon fair) post, presumably in some sort of childish attempt at retaliation.

    Is that about it?

I'm well aware that this is an overreaction. But I got five hours sleep last night, I've spent the whole weekend traipsing across half the country, I'm annoyed about having to go to work tomorrow, I'm too hot and I'm probably still a bit hungover. I'm in no mood to deal with people being tossers, I think the OP often comes across as a bit of one, and I feel much better for having written this. It's my little treat for myself. Now I'm going to have a cup of tea, and probably a small nap.

*I'd be the first person to admit that I maybe have a different approach to the internet from other people. Wrong as it may be, I tend to act more or less as I would in real life, despite the fact that, to my knowledge, I don't know anybody off here to actually talk to. If I'm making a post I consider it to still be a representation of myself, so when I'm reading something I've written through before posting it I tend to use the same thought process as I would if it were an actual face to face conversation. I happen to think that most of the internet would be a much better place if others did likewise.

    Seriously I cant believe this.

My usual approach is to debate back. People often dont like this so I've chosen to try and curb it. I put a simple 'okay' and you take offence. I cannot win on this forum.

Luckily I dont let it effect my day.

If you look hard enough you may see where I'm coming from.

The Elliot Lee thread from last night which I think you contributed to had a few comments in relating to not needing certain players. Including Elliot Lee himself.

I only dislikes your comment because I couldnt understand why you disliked my 'okay'.

Would you not rather just contribute to the OP and talk about football?

I wouldn't say it's fear, but I certainly think it hasn't dawned on some people that there's no emergency loans this season.

I would. And Sestren tried. But your reply saying 'Okay' didn't do at all.

Leave it at that though. Not interested in getting involed in one of those last word threads.

So it's perfectly acceptable for Sestren to completely disregard what I've said by stating that I'm fighting a battle that isn't the there?

But when when I reply 'okay' to that I've done something wrong?

I'm beginning to think certain members of this forum have it in for me.

Was hoping that was going to be an image of a small violin. Or a bleeding heart. Something like that.

Still a good one though :)
