I said we'd left ourselves short of centre midfielders and defenders and now we're in a right pickle. 12 more games until the transfer window re-opens.
We haven't, Almeida's injury couldn't be helped. Just one of those things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We couldn't have known that George Moncur didn't back his own ability and ran away to his comfort zone
Does anyone think we'll spend a bit of money in January? The regime of loans and good scouting served us well last season, and for half of our games this season, but it's only taken a few injuries to leave us short. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I don't think we will just go out and panic buy but if the right player is avaliable we will spend I think.
I hope we don't ponte the money away on what would be a high stake gamble. Of course we need a couple in, a blind man on a galloping goat can see that, but let's cap it and stick to the plan and for Christ sake let's not keep pretending Kevin long is Bobby Moore.
Who would have thought we'd be in a situation where we got an injury and a suspension at the same time. That's me being sarcastic by the way.
I see where you are coming from, in the past we have had the loan window to bring in emergency players, but obviously that's been done away with, and rightly so in my opinion. Could we have bought in another couple of players for cover before the transfer window closed? Yes, but they would have been more than likely "panic buys". So for me, we have 2 options, play a couple of first teamers out of position, or look to our youth players/u23's. I don't hold out much hope against Newcastle anyway, so nothing to lose in my opinion. You never know though, we could find a hidden gem we didn't know we had.
I like that word and hope it catches on. Ponte: 1. to consume, spend, or employ uselessly or without adequate return; use to no avail or profit; squander: to ponte money; to ponte words. 2. to fail or neglect to use: to ponte an opportunity. 3. to destroy or consume gradually; wear away: The waves ponte the rock of the shore. 4. to wear down or reduce in bodily substance, health, or strength; emaciate; enfeeble: to be pontied by disease or hunger. 5. to destroy, devastate, or ruin: a country pontied by a long and futile war. 6. Slang. to kill or murder. Etymology: First used circa August 2016 when fans destroyed seats in the Pontefract Road end at Oakwell
The alarming thing is numerous supporters could see this coming but the club couldn't. Poor recruitment during the transfer window in those areas.
Or, we are competing against established championship clubs, some ex premier who have VERY wealthy backers and spend stupid money on some players. We are doing the right thing, although mistakes gave been made. But I did also say is easy when you aren't putting the money up or having to manage a young team at this level. We need to have some patience here ...
