Sunday Times quotes Johnson as saying "It seems it's much easier to take away their freedoms than it is to give them back to them."

I think the real lesson is that it's much easier to scare the sht out of them than it is to then allay those fears.

Perhaps he should have said English. It doesn’t look like the rest of Britain is taking much notice of him at all.

I have never read a UK Prime minister say such as frightening thing in public,in all my 59 years.
10 o'clock radio news, just reporting immigration blocks on people we all rely on. The British people are going to rue the day they voted the way they did. It's not about party politics anymore it's about power and control.

“As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air – however slight – lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.”

    Justice William O. Douglas

Agreed, they're even more staunchly against basic human freedoms and liberties being returned to them.

What actually is a 'cockwomble'? Is it a perverted furry animal that lives down Wimbledon Common and collects bric a brac in it's spare time?

I don't think it's a Tory bashing thread DT. Rather a lot of us are seeing attacks on people with non white skin and who are immigrants rise again. We are seeing Employment rights affected. The good thing about the UK is the rights and protections we have enshrined in law,the Equality and Diversity act 2010,the Children Act 1989. These are all laws to be proud of and should be celebrated, as it reflects the society we are.
I and you are Citizens, we are not subject to any one person or government. We are protected by a Free and Independent Judiciary ,who fight against the controlling nature and forces of politicians, whatever their ideology. Despite the abuse and threats of a vibrant right wing media and their supporters.
I accept your tongue may have been firmly in your cheek DT.
