There has been much talk about improving matchday experience, but has there ever been anything from the club to actually try to improve the atmosphere? There must be something the club could do to help? Are there any plans to install safe standing areas? I personally wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the group that insist on standing at an away match, but if there was an area for that, then it is a problem solved at home. Surely there must be a way to improve the acoustics? Has it been looked into? I do think we are missing a trick with chants / and a lack of our own “anthem” Not had anything of our own since the “Just like Watching Brazil” chant. Everything seems to be what is doing the rounds at other clubs. We could do with something that is ours and only ours. I think if the club identified a song that got played over the PA on a regular basis pre match it would catch on.
I dread the day when someone brings a big drum into the ground. There’s hardly a match on telly these days that doesn’t feature a moronic thump thump thump. I have to watch with the sound turned right down. But it improves the atmosphere some say…..not for me thankyou
I think trying to impose atmosphere never works. It grows. Devante's got a song, just too few singing it for it to really take off, same with " up the league we go" yesterday. I'm sure as the weather improves , more will come to watch amd the chanting will get louder and more consistent.
Even Toby Tyke has chalk fcēk on it. When was the last time anyone saw him on the pitch before games?
I agree you can't impose an atmosphere - it develops or it doesn't. I wonder is there less of a connexion between fans and players nowadays compared with a few years ago - could that be a factor in the lack of atmosphere?
There's definitely much weaker connection. The amount of people I hear at the ground this season saying 'what number is Edwards?', 'who is number 7?' or even when players warm up 'whos that being Williams?' for example is crazy. In previous seasons you recognised the players. For some reason that's just got less and less of a thing which is really strange considering with technology and the availability of so many different social media platforms the players should be closer to the fans than ever before. I wonder if it's linked to our much reduced media output than we used to have and our failure to really embrace the opportunities or if it's simply because fans now see the club as a revolving door so don't attempt to connect to players
Tbh. If I was a player. I'd keep entirely away from social media. The amount of unwarranted abuse would spoil it for me, even if most comments are acceptable.
