Does anyone think that his best position is other than left wing back?

I consider him to be wholly wasted where he's been played this season.

I think he had spells where his link up play with Morris was pretty decent at times. He was no worse than Bassi and especially Quina today.

Fair play to Reading. They tried to batter and bruise Morris, and doubled/tripled up on Quina every time - not that he helped himself at times.

Consider Styles didn’t have a break I thought he was lovely enough and was better with his defensive work vs. recent games. Final ball decision making just wasn’t there at times otherwise we could have got the crucial second goal. We were poorer once he went off the pitch, but given out squad we’re nearly always weaker when we make a sub.

I think him or bassi should’ve gone off, because we were looking too lightweight. But to bring Odour on was a baffling choice

Too slow too often. Probably a little tired from being on international duty for the racists.

Bassi should have been off well before the Reading goal. For as much we invited pressure on by being deep, it was more about us having no out ball at all. Long clearances to Bassi made zero sense and invited the pressure to keep coming back - which naturally forces you to drop deeper and deeper.

Very strange that he completed 90 minutes today.

All 3 were hussled out of it. They had no space. It was good from Reading to close everyone down all the game.

Styles just lacks that yard of pace to get away from his marker which if he had would probably get him a move to a top championship club.

Agree. A change needed to be made early in the second half. I just have no idea what difference he thought Odour for Styles was going to make. Poor all round today sadly, both from the players and the coach. At least we didn’t lose, after such a poor display i suppose.

Not strange at all when you see what's on the bench. In an ideal world, Quina would have been subbed at half-time and Bassi on 60 minutes, but there's no-one to bring on.

I think even if we had a stronger bench, taking Quina off at half time would be the wrong choice. Especially at 1-0 up at that time. 60/65 minutes if no improvement fair enough, but would seem extremely harsh hauling him off at half time after one half poor performance (considering we've seen he can do something out of nothing). Baffled by the Odour sub though.

Might sound harsh, but i'd even put Helik on (obviously if fit), Kitching moves to left back and Vita further forward than Clarke come on.

I think if you’re lumping long balls to bassi like we were, then you may as well bring adeboyejo on for him.

Tha nuz what! If I was a manager, I'd ask each individual player what their strengths were and what their best position is, take it from there. Manage them and make them grow & give them confidence.
It's called man management, having said that, I've no idea how it works but that'd be my way forward, that and make them work their knackers off on training.

He's definitely better at Left back for us.

Hes not been anywhere near the level of last season where he played every game at LWB. Thats not to say he can't play centrally, maybe can with better players, but I'd definitely have him back in his old position.

I agree. Think he'd be better playing behind the striker with Wolfe/Gomes behind him rather than him deeper

Would you have him at LWB over Vita?

    Yes, absolutely.

Vita has been great, I'm still perplexed hes taken so long to get a game, however he's powder puff. Loads of talent but at times looks like a boy playing mens football.

Vita is nowhere near the level Styles was last season at left back, no disrespect to Vita at all.

The Problem we have is we are so light of midfield options moving Styles to LWB means we are losing a half decent laiker and replacing him with a nom de plume.

That’s fair. Though, I guess the bigger problem is that we’ve looked pretty dire when playing a back 3 and wing backs, and I wouldn’t put styles at left back in a back 4.

Yep. The fact that we’re reliant on Matty Wolfe to make us tick in midfield, with half a season at Esjberg as his first team experience, sums us up really.

Looking at the outfield players on the bench today. There were two or three that were never going to be brought on, in any circumstances.
