Just reported he's said no to the opportunity to be their assistant manager. Big call that but fair play.
I bet it’s because it’s only a 6 month gig. Probably different if Ralf had a longer contract at Man Utd
I love Manchester but I imagine a snow-filled, baltic New York is still a bigger draw than rainy, rainy Manchester
Exactly that I think. Did enough this season to secure another full season in the MLS so why give all that up for a short term gig?
Because it’s Man Utd, and a successful 6 months would do more for his cv than 12 months of an ok season in MLS.
If he was taking the manager's job, maybe. As assistant he isn't likely to get the manager's job when Ragnick goes, so he'll be back looking for work. I imagine his idea is to go NY Red Bulls, RB Salzburg, RB Leipzig, top champions league team. Moving back to assistant manager, even under Ragnick at Man Utd is probably a backwards step.
Not sure on that one. How do you deem it successful if you're only there for half a season? Whatever they achieve this season it will be in line with original expectations. Doing well with NYRB could move you to a different part of the Red Bull setup quicker.
