Who'd have thought three shipping containers would bring so much joy and happy every after. It could be ours for the taking if we follow the model and master it.

Tbf though, it is still outside. Even if we had something like this, there would still be the issue of it being unsuitable during worse weather.

It's a shame they can't rebuild The Mount straight outside the Ponte End.

Can we get together 1.5m-2m, do you reckon?

Would be a lot cheaper to do the Stockport version. You could have two rows of 3 or 4 containers and have a cover between the two. There's something similar in Canary Wharf near upper bank street. I used to work in the Deutsche Bank offices there, so went in often and it was used all year round and was busy all the time so it stood up to the elements. Definitely wouldn't cost anywhere like 1 million quid I reckon.

I'm led to believe there are some fan zone improvements being worked on but we'll have to see what that looks like. Having something year-round is key.

I think that looks pretty tidy but all I will say, and it’s been said many times, have a look at Accrington Stanley’s fan zone. Simple but affective. Just a massive marquee, bar with good priced drinks, live music. Was a reyt day there other year.

I agree mate. Sometimes less is more. Personally, I'm not bothered about interviews with academy/fringe players prior to kick off. Somewhere with a decent, competitively priced pint, and possibly some live music or a televised early kick off is what I'd prefer.

Yeah, you are right. Very achievable.

The Accrington chairman came to see us in the old Redfearn's bar under the Ponte
Obviously, they already had great hospitality as you say but look what they've built now (along with conference facilities etc - ok it cost 2.5m quid :D )

Here's what they took in bar takings for 5 games last season and this (up to Nov 23)

Having that early televised game was a big pull in Redfearn's bar of old. We always got loads of complaints when the council hadn't paid for the sky subscription :D
I do like the live music in the fan zone, though and the interviews etc (when I can hear them)
Was talking to one of the old regulars at the game on Saturday. He won't come in the fan zone and wants us to get the club to give us Redfearn's bar back under the Ponte. It was more fun in there I think from our point of view (but a lot more work to set up / pull down as everything had to be put away including all the alcohol). The main thing though, It was warm :)

That’s pretty impressive. How good would Sumat like that be at oakwell if we could get the funds to do this in west stand. Something else that’s been mentioned, all year round bar/facilities.

Would be amazing. Remember Gauthier's plan to move the offices to the East Stand and open a Sports Bar. Hope we've kept the plans :D

I'm amazed that small clubs are spending millions on them.

We would be ok with something like the old yellow market building that was up while the glassworks was being built.

A 680 person capacity one like that with huge doors on the front and side costs around £100k and would be ideal for Barnsley at the cost of a few fines for the players being dicks
