Believe it or not yesterday was the 13th anniversary of Steve's passing. As has become tradition I met up with his widow, Deirdre and their Son Tim to remember Steve at the Leeds game. It was a emotional day for us all. I had known Steve from school days and sadly a number of our contemporaries have also passed on. I remember that on the last game of the season after Steve died I accompanied Deirdre in the legends suite where she was presented with a bound copy of his diaries. It was presented by one Paul Heckingbottom and paid for by the good people of BBS I believe. RIP
I both want to like this and don't. I never met Steve, but remember his diaries from the early days on here. It doesn't seem like 13 years have passed. Condolences to all concerned on the anniversary.
Cant believe its 13 years - was such a shame he couldn't win the battle but his diaries were an inspiration RIP Steve
Steve built up quite a relationship with our family and Laura in particular. A truly great man who is sadly missed.
Wow, 13 years. His diary posts were always incredibly upbeat despite what was going through. A true role model. Never met the bloke, never missed reading his posts.
Thank you all for your very kind comments. I will pass them on to Deirdre. It is good to know that he is remembered so positively by his friends on BBS.
