I noticed that on the main site he's not in the first team squad but instead he's been lumped with the U-23's.

    https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/teams/u23-team/

There are 9 midfielders named in the first team squad but no Mallan. Does that mean barring a load of injuries, we're unlikely to see him start a game for the first team?

From the little bits I've seen in the Chronicle, it sounded as though Hecky thought
the lad needed some one on one time being spent on him.

He said he didn't want to send him out on loan, so they must have decided that playing
with the U 23's is the best way to bring him on for now until he's ready for first team football,
which is a bit of a surprise because even though some don't rate Scottish football, he seemed
to be the stand out performer when he was at St Mirren.

Highly rated, scored for fun last season, one of our first summer signings, Potts and Moncur not tearing up any trees. Makes perfect sense to not even include him in the squad.

Was the signing I was most looking forward to seeing. Especially as he was signed early. Based on nothing but his highlight reel from st mirren and the rave reviews he got North of the border.

He's a young lad, and I'm sure will get his chance. Hope he impresses when he does. Perhaps he'll get on bench against Sunderland. If not hopefully the league cup.

That's interesting. He was in the U-23 squad 2 hours ago and now he's been shifted to the first team.
Someone at BFC must have read this post.

I'd like to at least get the chance to see him to judge him myself.
