Some on here saying Stendel has no experience at league one level but other clubs have gone for managers/coaches with no experience, Barton at Fleetwood, Lampard at Derby, Gerrard at Rangers. The only difference is Stendel is German and the others are English, would people have been happier if we had appointed an untried English manager/coach as opposed to an untried foreign one! Maybe the delay was he had spoken with the board earlier and identified players he wants already and whether these are available! I’ve no idea really but I’ll hold judgement until we’ve had a few games!

Stendel is a product of a much better coaching development programme in Germany than we have in the UK. We should have a much better disciplined team next season. I wish him well.

Rubbish, what do the Germans know about football, it’s not like they’ve ever won the World Cup, oh hold on a minute............. you might have a point!

Great point. I'm quite optimistic about Stendel. All we can do as fans is support him which I'm sure the majority of fans will do.

His record in management to date may be short but it's better than those you mention. Let's just give him a chance and get behind him.

Now we know who the new coach is when does the open day/away kit posts start?

Don't mention Fawlty Towers. I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

Actually Nudge, if this appointment is confirmed, then you have shown a nouse (not noose) beyond all others on here by sticking your neck out and identifying that we would end up with an obscure foreign manager.

And thus you should be saluted (but not in a Germanic late 30's sort of way).

Let's hope he takes this division by storm (troop).

    I'm on board.

Well, I'm looking forward to us not missing any penalties.

I have no problems with the nationality of the new coach if Daniel Stendel is the boards choice. But how can he possibly know where the side needs strengthing is as he doesn't know the current players or league 1 for that matter as he has no previous experience of this league. Plus I do wander who else he will bring in on the coaching staff as his predecessor did.. . Hope he is a quick learner.. .

Would rather have the lad we have now than Lampard, Barton or Gerrard. None of them have experienced Championship football just like Stendel and at least ours have some kind of first team experience.

I'm thoroughly expecting us to compete for top two next season with this appointment and squad we have at our disposal.

I think with the amount of data collected about players it is fairly easy for managers to get up to speed. One of the things that probably attracted us to this guy is his long period running the youth team at Hannover. After Hecky took all his assistants with him this I guess this left us in a bit of a mess & Jose's men have left the building too.

I do like a good Fawlty Towers joke. Probably the funniest TV sitcom of all time. Thankfully the attitudes it depicts are out dated with most people now, something it probably went a long way to changing.

He'll have watched us loads of times on videos I'd be surprised if he's come into it and hasn't already properly assessed our team.

Perhaps a heinz muller type figure at his side in some capacity has they both know each other from hannover and he may also help with language and he knows a little about club and area from his spell here a few years ago.

I wonder if herr Stendel will volunteer to go out and get some meat.
Just don't tell the major, he thinks they're all bad eggs. ;)
