Interesting given we played Norwich, Swansea, Watford & Cardiff and only picked up a point in Jan I felt we were really unlucky in these games not to pick up more points. The momentum is definitely with us for the final 1/3rd of the season got a feeling it’s going to be a close finish for the play offs.
Managers brilliant, teams talented, hungry and getting better week by week, all we need is lady luck and I don't see why we shouldn't seriously challenge for promotion, no one would want us in the playoffs if we make them.
70 points is sometimes enough for the play offs, but I think this year 75 may be needed. That’s 27 points from 15 games. 9 wins, or 8 wins and three draws. The best thing that Barnsley have going for them is that unlike all competitor teams (except possibly Reading) we have no expectation of promotion. We have already achieved our main goal, namely staying up. I hope VI is told by the board (and tells the players) to go for it and to enjoy it. I expect there will be at least one team that falters because pressure gets the better of them. There’s no reason for that team to be us.
Interestingly, we have only 4 games left against the current top ten: Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Reading and Norwich, the latter being our last game and one in which we are at home and our opponents may be hung over. We have played Brentford, Swansea, Cardiff, Stoke and Watford twice already. That means we can’t take points off them, but it means that we doing have as many high pressure games. Bournemouth for example have 7 games left against current top ten teams.
And we’ve done better against teams below or around is then against the top 6, this bodes well for getting into the play offs but we’d probably be against a team who’s been better then is over 2 games this season already.
Me neither. Been watching and playing football 45 years but I have absolutely no idea what anything on that screen is going on about. Only way it can even begin to make sense is if we've won a bake off for our apple turnovers.
