Despite all the off field cluster fkcry which is destroying our club I saw a team out there today. In that second half in particular I saw a group of footballers who cared and who were prepared to battle. The half time team talk clearly had the desired effect. Well done to the Asst Coach. Again, despite all our problems, what I saw at the end of the match was a group of players and their supporters come together. Truly. This is not meant to be cheesy but the applause from the crowd when the final whistle blew said everything about Barnsley fans. There was a real appreciation for the players' efforts in times of real adversity. Looked like the players appreciated it too. Not that it will ever happen in a month of Sundays but how much more constructive would it be to see the personal attacks on players toned down a notch? Those lads today were playing for the shirt and the fans. Ease off with abuse.
I saw a young lad who had just made his debut for his boyhood club walking in front alone (remnded me of Hammill) applauding the east stand and what was left of the left hand side of the ponte then had to avoid the rest of the ponte and west stand because of fuckwits
I totally agree. The lads second half performance in particular was worthy of a point. They gave there all and that's all as Barnsley fans we are asking for, not to roll over and give in as I saw against Notts Forest. So. E fans clapped them off as that was what they deserved. It was such a shame when Aiden Marsh hit that volley after just coming on that it didn't go in...... I set off for Oakwell today fearing the worst but enjoyed the match despite the defeat. Next time it will be our time maybe.
The east stand applauded well and the few left in the Ponte but was all spoiled by the 16 year olds Conway out brigade. It was just embarrassing.
I feel sorry for the players and for fans alike. Both have been put in difficult positions through how this club is being handled. If i was an investor or board member i would be asking the person making the decisions some serious questions.
I would assume the board and decision maker are aligned in the plan and model going forward. You cant have a facebook group, a few teenagers, a minority stay aways and a dozen grupmy BBS ers dictating how a club is run. Stay away if people want, i dont agree but thars fine but violence abuse damage and affecting the players and people who want to go and support the players cant be allowed. The idiots causing the trouble are not victims in all this but part of the problem.
After sitting through the Forest embarrassment on Tuesday night, when I didn't see an ounce of effort from ANY Barnsley player on the pitch after we went 1 down, that's really encouraging to read about yesterday. They now MUST put that same effort and graft in in every game from now. If they do, we'll still inevitably be relegated, but we'll get a few wins along the way - I think that's the best we can hope for at this stage, create a few decent memories and finish with a glimmer of confidence among what will likely be statistically the worst season in our history.
