Im wondering, should we be worried at all here, about what the Efl have done to them. As we've still got an ongoing case with the Efl, and depending on how strict they will be, we also face a possible fine and/or points deduction. Before a ball was kicked, I thought even a points deduction like that wouldn't put us in a relegation scrap, as we should be far too good for that in this League. Now however, I have to admit I'm not so sure. Was this discussed at the meeting the other night, were any answers or updates given on the subject ?. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66591344
Don't see any resemblance in this to our case? Looks a comparison between apples and oranges to me. Firstly, they're in the National League, not the EFL, so it's a different body, and secondly, this is all about debts and money owed, not the stuff we've been charged with.
I wouldn't worry about it too much as our rules "transgression" isn't in the same league as Southend's.
Sadly a can see Southend going down the same route as Bury Proper stadium in the middle of the community, just like how stadiums were and should be imo!!! When you’ve these Saudi’s paying folk a million pound a week n there’s teams over here who can’t raise £100 a week it’s pretty depressing stuff
Remember in the early 90s when they were doing well in the Championship, and there was talk of them going up to the proposed new Premier league. Seems like its a hundred years ago now!!. I realise our problems aren't based on tax and revenue & customs etc. But my point is based on how unpredictable the Efl are when they hand out punishments.
I still call it the Efl, even though I know they're non league now lol. Anyway I will ask again, should we be worried when you see teams get big points deductions like that, regardless of what the offence is. Was this discussed at the meeting the other night, were any answers or updates given on the subject ?.
So Southend get slapped with a 10 point deduction and a threat of winding up for £275k. Reading are £83m in debt and only get 3 points taken? K.
It was raised and basically said, we asked EFL to investigate and it is with EFL to complete and wouldn’t say anymore whilst it’s ongoing. There is no way EFL can ever give us something as large as the Southend punishment as ours is basically looks nothing more than an administrative error but more importantly with Birmingham being punished last season for almost identical there is no way it would stand up in an independent appeal with a precedent having being set.
Reading, first club to have been penalised 3 Seasons on the trot as well and the EFL condemned the punishment due to obvious disregard of rules. The problem with these punishments seem to be the independent appeal panel.
