Michael Owen says it shouldn’t have been a penalty.... but the one at Oakwell that was less of a penalty that he conned the ref into was....
Fair play to them yes, but was never a penalty and PSG missed a few good chances or failed to turn really good opportunities into clear cut chances. M'Bappe had a really poor game by his standards
He jumped up turned his back but was looking at the ball all the time. His arm stopped ball from going towards goal. I thought it was a pen
Never a penalty for me. I thought there had to be an element of hand to ball for it to be a penalty. It looked accidental to me. Having said that I'm glad that Neymar and crew were dumped out.
About time he was made their permanent manager. Needed a goal and was brave enough to bring on a couple of kids. One in Greenwood who will have a England cap in the next 12 months. Great that Neymar went to PSG to get out of the shadow of Messi and has gone out in the last 16 twice with the oil money. I can see him moving on in the summer.
There's no doubt that the penalty decision was nailed on to be controversial. Whether it was or it wasn't, the records will show that against one of the best teams in Europe, a makeshift Man Utd side beat PSG on the away goal rule. Have to agree with the opinions expressed by others in that Solskjaer must be an absolute knocker for the gig full time, particularly as his Club Molde have now confirmed that his contract with them, has expired, which means there will be no need for any compensation to be paid.
I really like Solskjaer. Dignified, level headed and completely unpretentious. I'm not a massive fan of Manchester United, but I can't help but hope he does well with them. He's an absolute breath of fresh air after Mourhino.
How a referee can look at that replay and decide that is a penalty is beyond me. Its almost as if he doesn't actually understand the rules.
Don't really think his subs (other than hauling Bailly off) impacted the game PSG should have been out of site, let's be honest
If you move the shot ten yards closer to goal and make it more of a goal scoring opportunity then nobody disagrees with the decision. His arm is out wide, his eyes on the ball, and he clearly impedes the ball with his arm. Definite penalty. It’s like those decisions that get given on the halfway line but not in the box. Rules are rules.
The player had his back to the ball and did not move his hand towards the ball, No deliberate act so no pen. I think the fact the ref was asked to review it by the VAR team made the ref think he had got wrong so he overruled his original decision.
